Project 2A: Walk Cycle Animation

Instructions
1. Study vanilla walk cycle that includes poses and timing from the book of Animator’s Survival Kit as a reference as these:
Contact pose (3 frames)
Down pose (3 frames)
Pass pose (3 frames)
Up pose (3 frames)

2. Create a project in Adobe Animate. Set the setting as 24fps, 16:9 aspect ratio with 1280 x 720 (HD720p) resolution.

3. Using the same character that you did in Project 1, animate the rough animation of that character, walking in the same spot at the side view. The rough animation  process should be using basic form and sketchy stroke.

4. The animation should show the quality of being appealing, fluid and flexible which you have mastered in the previous exercises.

5. Output the rough animation as video with any of these format, *.mp4 format or quicktime *.mov.

6. Create tie down drawing using a cleaner stroke.

7. Output tas tie down  animation as video with any of these format, .mp4 format or quicktime.mov.

8. Label each progression clearly as “Rough” and “Tie Down” respectively and compile both as one reel and output it as compilation video.

Final Outcome of Project 2A: Walk Cycle Animation
After the feedback, I have made changes to the drawings to make the whole walk cycle looked smoother.

Project 2B: Jump Animation

Following the tutorial in class, we have started to draw out the draft for the jump animation. Mr Kamal has done the demonstration as well, but I only can us touch pad to do it so it took longer time for me to catch up.
Fig 4.1 Rough sketch in Adobe Animate, Week 9 (18/11/24)

After I have done the rough sketch in Animated, I have imported them to Procreate for me to do tie down drawing. It really take a long time for me to complete the drawing :'( The whole day I just keep drawing and drawing and I am so tired! Finally I have done all the drawing and again, OI have donwloaded all of them and imported to Adobe Animate again.

Since the drawings will be in different position after I hgave imported them, I will need to adjust them one by one accordingly. Also, as I also need to do the compilation of the sketch and tie down, I will need to connect them properly.

Finally, this is the outcome for the full version of tie down jump animation. I have shown it to Mr Kamal and he said that I could let the last frame to stay a bit longer, do not cut it too fast.

Feedback

Project 2A: The size of the legs should be consistent, the leg at behind can be smaller. The position of the legs should be matched, the leg behind looked a bit dragging. When up, the leg at the back should be lower than the pose at contact.

Project 2B: Mr Kamal has give me feedback on some minor details such as the continuous of the position and also the spacing need to adjust, it cannot be constant all the time. Other than that, the hand seems a bit akward at the end, could change to letting it down instead and the last few seconds can be maintained longer.

Reflection

This is much more difficult, time-consuming and challenging than the previous exercises we have done. This project invovles more body movement that I will need to estimate the direction of very parts and draw them out nicely.

My experiences in Animation Fundamentals are still quite new and obviously I need more practices but this takes a lot of time :'''(  The outcome may be nice but during the process I am literally dying hahaha. I do love drawing but the frame by frame drawing :D But this is also a good experience for me to know what I prefer and may be weak at.
