REFLECTION

Experience
Before I actually take this module, I completely have know idea about what Im going to learn in this module, I just know that it is something related to font, that's all. Until the first day of class I only know what I am going to learn which make me looking forwards to and excited about it. I think my favourite project will be task 1 exercise 1 as I think it is the most interesting project out of all. We have to think of what kind of design suits the word we chose and which font able to express the feeling. It was quite challenging but fun at the same time. Other than that, task 1 exercise 2 is actually harder compare to exercise 1. It was the first time I felt frustrated as the animation is a bit tough for me to execute and I have to tried many times only can get the result that I preferred. On the other hand, I have learned the layout arrangement from task 2 which was also quite fun. I learned the way to place headline and text in a balanced and appropriate manner. Lastly, we finally get the chance to design a font by ourselves at the end of this semester. As I wanted to design a font that a bit different from the fonts that are neat and tidy, I decided to make it a handwriting style with marker pen. Although the process of adjusting the fonts required a lot of efforts and times, but the outcome was ideal. Throughout so many projects, the guidances and advices from Ms Hsin Yin and Mr Vinod were really helpful and indispensable. Without their help along this journey, I would not complete all the tasks successfuly. I really gained a lot of knowledges and experiences from this module and I am thankful for it.

Observations
I have observed that after carrying out the projects during these 14 weeks, I already clearly know about the basic rules of typography which I would not easily obey again. For example, kerning, line length, alignment and more. These are the things I would not notice in daily life but when I become the creator I realised that it can has huge influences with just minor changes. Therefore, I will be more observant and careful while doing every single steps until it was perfect.

Findings
To be honest, typography is not the module that I looking forward to before the semester start. As I have mentioned, I found it interesting after the first day of class and I started getting interested to explore it. I find myself having more and more passion on it and also slowly developing the skills at the same time. I have really learned a lot of things that are extremely useful and valuable which I appreaciate so much.
